'I'll name my child Marina' - Chelsea fans go crazy over Kai Havertz transfer

These are exciting times to be a Chelsea supporter.

Not only are the club in the driving seat to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League this season, which would be seen as a massive achievement in the first season under head coach Frank Lampard, but they are also making some loud noises in the transfer market, too.

After being slapped with a transfer ban by FIFA last summer, it was always expected that Chelsea would look to strengthen their squad this summer. However, it is unlikely that anyone could have predicted that the Blues would have held such high aspirations.

Alan Smith breaks down Chelsea's move for Timo Werner and who they may look to next

The Blues wasted little time in securing their first signing ahead of the next transfer window - though when that will officially open because of the coronavirus pandemic remains to be seen - as they sealed the signature of Ajax midfielder Hakim Ziyech back in February, ensuring that he will arrive at Stamford Bridge this summer.

Since then, Chelsea's work in the transfer market has just gone from strength to strength. The Blues, who will resume their Premier League campaign following the coronavirus shutdown on Sunday, June 21, when they face Aston Villa, are understood to be closing in on the signing of RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

Football.london has been told that the club is "highly confident" that they will trigger Werner's £53million release clause before it expires on June 15.

However, according to a report by the Daily Mail, it seems as though Chelsea are not done there, as they are preparing to go all out and launch a £75million bid for Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz.

This news, as you would imagine, has been greeted with a tremendous response by Chelsea supporters, who are desperate to see the club's hierarchy add the talented German international to Lampard's squad.

Here is a close look at what some Blues fans have said on social media in response to the news...
