'I'll go off': Thomas Cook customer rages over refund after company collapses

A Thomas Cook customer due to go on her first holiday ever has threatened to “go off” if she is not refunded, after the travel company's collapse

Corenza Smith said she had paid £2,000 for a trip to go to Turkey in 2020 with her mother and younger sister.

The firm's descent into administration means her trip is among thousands in doubt and it is equally unclear whether she and other will receive their money back.

The failure of a last-ditch attempt to save the company has seen it cease trading, putting more than 20,000 jobs at risk around the world, leaving many travellers stranded and disrupting thousands of others’ future travel plans.

Ms Smith expressed her frustration at the disruption to what would have been her first ever holiday in an interview with Global’s Newsroom

“I better get it back, or I will go off,” she said several times. “I am not amused, I am not happy about it either.”

The woman said the first she had heard of the company going bust was on Facebook and via the news.

‘I didn’t get an email, I haven’t heard anything.”
