I'll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson - review

Jandy Nelson, I

I'll Give You the Sun is about two twins, Noah and Jude, who were incredibly close when they were younger, but are now further apart than ever before due to a tragic accident in their life. It's all about how people randomly walk into your life and change how you think and see the world, meaning that you finally get to see the whole story, not just the half you believed in.

This book is written in a way that lets your imagination run away with you, it makes you feel like a part of the story and is vividly stuck in your mind whenever you have to put it down.

Jude and Noah are twins, they have completely different personalities but they are always there for each other until tragedy strikes. This book shows the before and after, but told through separate twins. Noah's story focuses on his reliance on his mother for approval and how he is hiding his true self from the world, whereas Jude's focuses on her belief in superstitions and trying to overcome the grief you feel by doing something extraordinary for the dead, to apologise for the hurt Jude caused to them.

I really enjoyed how Nelson described the whole area they lived in, it made you feel that you lived this story with them, it was like an old friend coming home.
