'I'll be home in time for dinner' Queen's Park boss Mark Roberts delighted with Kilmarnock draw

Mark Roberts reckons the best thing about drawing Kilmarnock in the Scottish Cup is that he will make it home in time for dinner.

The former Rugby Park star is now manager of Queen’s Park who have drawn Killie in the Scottish Cup fourth-round.

The Spiders head to Ayrshire on January 18 – but that is no issue for Roberts who can see Rugby Park from his window.

Speaking to the Standard, Roberts said: “I’ll be home for my dinner, that’s the main thing!

“I won’t need to worry about it getting re-heated by the time I’m home from Glasgow.

“But seriously, it’s a good draw for me and the players.

“A lot of the boys are quite young and haven’t played at many senior grounds, so this will be a great experience.

“I didn’t want to play Celtic or Rangers, so if I was to pick a Premiership game it would have been Kilmarnock or Hearts away.

“You don’t want to draw a team in your own league.

“It’s something a wee bit different for my players and a reward for beating Queen of the South.”

He added: "I like getting back to games at Rugby Park whenever I can, it's a great place to be.

"I have only been back in a professional sense recently as manager of Ayr United in 2014, which was very strange.

"I am sure a lot of the press will be about me before the game due to my links with Killie, but it should be the Queen's Park players getting the spotlight, they are the ones who got us here and deserve it."
