'I let down the team' - Notts County skipper Michael Doyle confesses over red card agony

Michael Doyle admits he has "let down" Notts County as a result of his red cards this season.

The Magpies skipper has missed seven games this term after picking up two dismissals in the season's opener at Eastleigh and the 1-0 victory over Halifax.

The Irishman admitted he had nobody to blame but himself for both red cards which were his first in four years.

But the former Coventry player has no plans to suffer any more disciplinary disappointments and is eager to put things right throughout the remainder of the campaign.

“I let down the team and everyone involved, which is the hardest thing of all,” he admitted.

“It’s disappointing and frustrating not to be playing, but you have to look at yourself because there is no one else to blame.

“You have to work your way back up because you are at the bottom of the pile for putting yourself in that situation.

“I had to make sure I was ready to take the opportunity to come back into the team when it arose, and I’ve been happy with how I’ve performed.

“I don’t plan to give up the jersey again now – I’ve missed enough games.”
