Inevitable surging costs of the current cost of living crisis means that households across the globe - who are struggling for money - are making sure that every penny counts.
So, could you imagine having 2K owed to you that isn't being paid up?
A user on Mumsnet has revealed her anger in a post after falling into controversy with her ex-partner.
Whilst together, the woman lent her partner $2K, which was originally agreed to be paid back.
However, since they've separated, the ex has refused to pay back the funds after claiming that the money was a "gift".

The user wrote: "I lent $2k to my ex when we were together and we both agreed that they'll pay me back.
"Broke up with them 4 months ago and recently messaged them to ask to return the money.
"They said that they won't as it was a gift," they said.
"I have screenshots proving that it wasn't - I have told them that if they won't return I will talk to lawyers.
"I messaged my ex's sister to ask the sister to speak to my ex and hopefully help them see that they are in the wrong."
However, after getting nowhere with her ex-boyfriend, his ex sister offered to step in to provide the owed funds - which the poster rejected.

She continued: "Sister offered to pay for my ex instead, I said no."
"I feel like it's my ex that needs to own up to themselves," she added. "That's not how you treat people."
After trying to work things out with the ex's sister, the woman described her shock when she received a message saying that the situation had been affecting the father's health.
The ex's father had been experiencing "auditory hallucinations" as the user was "demanding [her] ex to pay".
She wrote: "Since talking to the sister of the ex, I get a message from the ex saying that his dad has been very upset about it and is experiencing auditory hallucinations because of me.
"The money was lent to them 5 months before the breakup.
"It's been now total of 8 months since I lent the money and not a cent has been returned.
The woman was left torn, writing that she feels "bad" for the father, yet she had still not received any money.
"I feel bad for the dad but I feel like if the ex has saved up little by little, then this wouldn't be happening," the woman wrote.

Users fled to the comment section of the post to share their thoughts on the concerned woman's ordeal.
One user commented: "I wouldn't believe the ex that any issues with the dad are anything to do with you and your loan. As if!"
Another penned: "I wonder how often his sister has had to bail him out? Nope, not your fault and he would find other reasons not to pay if that one wasn't available."
However, a few users thought that the woman should just accept the money from the sister and move on.
"Accept the money from your ex’s sister and move on," a user added.
"If the sister has offered to pay you back, accept it and move on," a second penned.
"You have separated, it is no longer your place to dig your hells in to make a point about your ex being shit."
