'I left my neighbour a note about his loud bassy music - he turned it up more'

Living next to neighbours who are inconsiderate can be really tough - especially if you've tried to reason with them and they've completely ignored you.

From barking pets to people who love listening to loud music, there can be numerous reasons you may want to confront your neighbour about their noise level.

It leaves you in a sticky situation, so you may feel compelled to try and be the bigger person and leave a note, trying to reason with them.

And usually, a note would do the trick - but sometimes it can escalate the issue, as one fed-up person found out.

They took to Reddit's 'Neighbours from Hell' forum to tell people: "Neighbors turned his music up even more when I left a note."

They wrote the note out that they'd kindly sent to the people living next door: " Dear neighbour. Please, if you don't mind, could you turn down the bass on your speaker?

"We are in the apartment below your floor so the bass travels directly to us. We have no problem with your music but if you could please turn down the bass settings it would be much appreciated.

"We have a young child and nearly every day she is affected by this. Thank you."

Rather than coming round and apologising for their heavy bass, they "proceeded to turn it up" and the original poster was left wondering what to do, finishing off their post with "I hate him so much."

In the comments, people pointed out that they'd tried to be more than civil, so maybe it was time to try another tactic - petty revenge.

Someone wrote: "I had this issue with my upstairs neighbour. After many fruitless complaints, I managed to connect to his Bluetooth speaker and played the s***iest music and turned up the volume to maximum, then called security on him so he couldn't turn it down before they got there lol.

"I tried to be civil so many times, called management, etc but I had to take matters into my own hands."

"That's right you got a fight fire with fire", another agreed.

A Redditor sympathised, commenting: "Our neighbour plays bass guitar with an amplifier for hours and makes sure he opens his patio door when he does this...three and a half years now."
