‘I know a trap when I see one’: Woman goes to vending machine at work. Then she sees what it was ‘accidentally’ stocked with

Most of the time, the vending machine at work is a bit of a disappointment. Contents are generally lacking, with most machines filled to the brim with overpriced salty snacks and lukewarm beverages.

However, occasionally, a vending machine will surprise you. Over the years, we’ve seen all sorts of vending machines come and go, from boxes that dispense burritos to machines that will make you hot and ready mashed potatoes.

Most of these are simply interesting. That said, a vending machine recently shared by TikTok user Kate Campion (@kateecampion) has some commenters concerned—and others deeply jealous.

What’s the Deal With This Vending Machine?

In a video with over 116,000 views, Campion shows off what she says is her work vending machine.

“Guyssss who stocked our vending machine at work,” she asks in the text overlaying the video.

Upon looking at the vending machine, the reason behind her surprise is clear: someone has filled the bottom row of the machine with a variety of alcoholic drinks. Options include Modelo, Twisted Tea, and Miller Lite.

“I don’t think they realized and they deserve a raise lmaooo,” Campion adds in the caption.

Is This Normal?

On paper, having alcohol in the office seems like a bad idea. Not only do businesses have to worry about lost productivity due to alcohol consumption, but having alcohol available to employees and encouraging them to drink may result in dangerous and uncomfortable situations for workers.

That said, some workers still choose to drink in the office, whether they’re allowed to or not.

A 2023 Zippia survey found that 34% of workers across the country admit to having had alcohol during work hours. In Alaska, that number is 67%.

However, it does seem that drinking as a workplace or post-work activity is in decline. Slate recently noted a perceived reduced interest in drinking with colleagues after work, noting that younger workers are choosing to drink less and spend more time at home or with friends rather than work colleagues.

While the trends may be going against workplace drinks, that doesn’t mean workers aren’t still excited about the prospect of being able to get a brew from the work vending machine.

“You send me an application,” said a user.

“I know a trap when I see one,” countered another.

“‘I’m sorry I thought it was a redbull’ grabs beer at 7am,” joked a third.
