'I just want to touch him' Girlfriend's heartbreaking tribute after partner is killed in motorbike crash

The girlfriend of a motorcyclist  who died in a crash in the Brecon Beacons last weekend has paid a heartbreaking tribute to him.

On Wednesday, police named Emyr Rhys Hughes as the motorcyclist who died in a crash on the A4067 in the Brecon Beacons on Sunday.

A number of flowers and poignant tributes have been left to the 25-year-old from  Ystradgynlais  at the scene of the crash, including a motorcycle helmet covered in messages .

The  one-vehicle crash happened just before 11am on Sunday  , March 24, on the A4067   Brecon  Road between Pen y Cae and the Cray Reservoir in  Powys .

Phillipa Stevens - who was in a relationship with Mr Hughes for seven years - has now paid tribute to him.

She said: "He is and was an amazing mechanic before he was a biker.

"And he was the love of my life - I was his first girlfriend and his last.

"I miss him and want to touch him so much. I want my boy back."

The 27-year-old added: "He was a quiet boy and I was wild so we balanced each other out.

"He called me nutty - that was his nickname for me.

"He has me in his phone as nutty."

Mr Hughes died at the scene and the road was closed for a number of hours.

A number of tributes have been left at the scene of the crash, including a black motorbike helmet with tributes saying 'will miss you, big man', 'I love you, my boy' and 'a good man'.

Daniel Hudson, who was out riding his motorbike with Mr Hughes when the crash happened, said the black helmet belongs to him.

They decided to leave it at the scene as the helmet broke while he was rushing to get to Mr Hughes, he continued.

Mr Hudson has previously said: "He was one of the nicest, friendliest men - you could not find a better friend anywhere.

"He was one of the best people you could ever meet.

"He was a hard worker and was loved by all his family and friends."

These are some of the tributes that have been left at the scene:

The 29-year-old, who also lives in Ystradgynlais, said Mr Hughes worked as an MOT tester and that they had known each other for a number of years.

"He loved his motorbike - he was always doing things with it and he was out every weekend," Mr Hudson added. "He would do anything for anyone - there were days you would see him working outside his house until 9pm or 10pm trying to get something finished."

‘I might die today from a condition so rare it has no name, but I have the same dreams as everyone’

Mr Hudson, who works in the  Port Talbot  steelworks, said there were eight of them out the day crash happened and that they all rushed to help Mr Hughes after the crash.

He also thanked the doctor who stopped to help.

"I am devastated with what has happened - it has shocked the community," Mr Hudson continued.
