Buying a new car can be a stressful experience. It has to be the right fit because realistically you’re going to be driving it around for a while. Well one woman on TikTok is asking for car recommendations after finding out pretty quickly that the Volkswagen Atlas was not the vehicle for her as it had a multitude of problems she simply couldn’t look past.
TikTok account @therobertscasa centers around family content with over 600k followers on the social media platform. A recent video posted by the mother contains a rather damning review of the seven-seater Atlas which she claims to have bought a mere week ago. In the clip she explains that she will be returning the car due to a number of problems she has experienced during her short time owning it. At least it’s not a Tesla.

According to her the Atlas “drives really rough,” the sun also fails to keep out the sun when closed, the brakes are “extremely loud and squeaky,” and on top of all of that, the car “beeps for everything.” While these might sound like minor annoyances, if you’re driving your car constantly then these little bothersome quirks can become unbearable pretty fast.
The mother even researched more around the car and found out that many other drivers had found issues with the brakes. With the plethora of problems it’s difficult to blame her for wanting to return the vehicle. It’s important to note that not everyone has experienced such problems with the Atlas. Some drivers think it’s a great car.
In the comments people suggested alternative cars that might be better suited. Some also took the opportunity to dunk on the Volkswagen Atlas. One person commented, ““It feels like a cheap clunky car”…. They are.” A second individual added, “VW’s are only cute from the outside. Other than that they are cheap and the electronics need to catch up with other vehicles.”
Of course, not everyone was so positive, some were a little more critical. One person wrote, “You know brakes need breaking in right???” Another added, “beeping for everything ? love you took the keys out while it’s running.” Some even labelled the original poster “ungrateful” for her choice to return a car she did not like.

In a follow-up video the mom of four responded to some of the more negative comments and revealed that she had paid 45K for the Volkswagen Atlas.

When you spend that much on a car it’s not too much to ask for the aforementioned problems to be dealt with. In the caption she added, “My bad for being picky with my own money.” If she has the option to return it then why not? That’s what a return policy is for. As of writing there is no update on whether she has found a suitable replacement. The sad fact is finding a budget cars is only going to get harder as Donald Trump’s tariffs continue to drive up prices.
