'I just can repeat' - Ilkay Gundogan answers Liverpool question journalists keep asking

Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan has hailed Mohamed Salah as one of the three best players in world football.

Gundogan took to Twitter on Thursday evening to answer fans' questions on a variety of different topics.

One query put to the City midfielder was his opinion on who were the top three players in the world on current form, to which the 31-year-old replied in no particular order: ‘Robert Lewandowski, Karim Benzema and Salah’.

AS IT HAPPENED: Liverpool vs Arsenal - goal updates, analysis and reaction

The Liverpool star who is currently representing Egypt at the African Cup of Nations has enjoyed a sensational season so far.

Salah has scored 23 goals and registered nine assists in 26 appearances for the Reds this term, but despite his sparkling form the Liverpool forward only finished seventh in the 2021 Ballon d’or.

However, Gundogan, who played under Jurgen Klopp during his time at Borussia Dortmund chose a rather diplomatic answer when asked if he preferred playing under his former boss or City manager Pep Guardiola.

He tweeted: “I think people and especially journalists have asked me this question who the better coach is more often than anything else, I just can repeat that both are absolutely world class on the highest level possible”
