An Ohio car dealership recently became the center of online drama after selling a custom pink Mary Kay Cadillac to a TikTok content creator. Marina, who posts under the username @elvislover1973, shared her excitement about buying the 2015 Cadillac from Oaks Automotive in Cincinnati. Her video quickly went viral, getting over 5.1 million views as she showed off her new pink car covered in Mary Kay branding.
Marina couldn’t hide her excitement in the post. She said she knew she wanted the car as soon as she saw it. The compact pink vehicle felt perfect for her and was different from the SUVs she usually drives. Marina, who had a double lung transplant in June 2023, regularly shares videos about her recovery and daily life with her followers.
But not everyone was happy about her purchase. Oaks Automotive later posted a follow-up video showing that someone had called the dealership to complain about the sale. As per Daily Dot, the recorded phone call showed a woman saying she had been saving money for two months to buy that exact car. When she was told it had already been sold, she got very upset that an influencer had bought it.
The caller made scary threats, saying “I hope she dies” about Marina. The dealership workers were clearly shocked after the call ended, with one saying “What the [expletive]?” The video showing the recorded conversation has now been viewed almost 4.9 million times.
What makes Mary Kay Cadillacs special and why people want them
Mary Kay Cadillacs are part of a rewards program that started in 1969. The makeup company gives these pink cars to their top-performing sales directors. Only about 1.5 percent of consultants reach the level to possibly earn one. And only about 10 percent of those directors actually get the famous pink Cadillac. Right now, there are over 1,000 pink Cadillacs on the road among the 3,600 total career cars in the Mary Kay fleet.
When these unique cars eventually go up for sale as used vehicles, they get a lot of attention because of their special color and branding. The 2015 Cadillac that Marina bought was likely previously owned by a Mary Kay sales director who had earned it through the program. Once these cars leave the Mary Kay program, they can be sold to anyone at dealerships.
Marina paid for the car with her own money, even though many people think influencers get everything for free. The purchase was different from her usual taste, since she normally likes older or unusual cars. What made this car special to her was its bold pink color and the Mary Kay branding all over it.
The recorded phone call got huge reactions online. Many people said they couldn’t believe how extreme the response was. Some even wondered if the situation was real. Other people worried about Marina’s safety, with one person writing “Protective order, right now.” Some of her supporters said they were glad Marina got the car, considering all the hate the caller showed. The whole thing shows how crazy reactions can get when personal wants mix with public social media moments.
