Game of Thrones’s Thomas Brodie-Sangster has claimed that he doesn’t know anyone who liked the show’s final season.
The actor – who portrayed Jojen Reed in the hit HBO series – also revealed that he has not yet seen all eight seasons of the fantasy show.
Brodie-Sangster told NME: “I’m still halfway through season four. I don’t have the right channel and just lost track of it a bit.”
“I was thinking the other day I should probably watch it again because it was really good,” he said. “I did really enjoy it. Lots of people really like it.”
Speaking about the series’ controversial final eighth season, the 30-year-old said: “Except no one seems to like the last episode or the last season. I haven’t met anyone that likes it so far.”
The hugely popular fantasy series came to an abrupt end in 2019, and many fans complained about its hasty final season. Millions of viewers signed a petition demanding that season eight be reshot.
Earlier this year, Charles Dance, who famously portrayed Tywin Lannister, joined the chorus, stating that he too was “disappointed” by the closing chapter and that he “would sign” the petition.
Speaking about his own character’s demise, Brodie-Sangster – who famously portrayed Sam in Love Actually – continued: “It would have been fun to come back for one more season, but it was good and my death was cool."
He explained: “I get stabbed repeatedly and that looks a little bit comical, but then my sister comes over and tries to put me out of my misery and slits my throat and then a girl comes out the middle of nowhere and throws a Molotov cocktail at me and I explode.”
In August, Maisie Williams – who began playing Arya Stark when she was only 12 years old –defended the show’s ending, saying: “I just couldn’t be happier with it.”
