Alex Bruce has told father Steve to sign Celtic’s coveted forward Odsonne Edouard.
Bruce has just retired after a spell with Kilmarnock, where he tussled with Celtic’s France under-21 striker – who was a £9million signing in the summer and has attracted scouts from Premier League clubs. He has 20 goals in 22 games this season after hitting 15 goals last season on loan at Parkhead.
The Glasgow giants would likely demand a high premium for the top goalscorer but Bruce says he’s told his dad to consider a move.
“I have told dad about Edouard so we’ll see. When you look at going into Europe to buy a top striker now, I mean Newcastle paid £40million for Joelinton, the price teams demand nowadays for top strikers is huge,” Bruce told Football Insider.
“When you think of what it might cost to get him out of Celtic, it might be worth a punt.
“Whether you could get him for £20-30million, I know it sounds like a lot of money but in today’s market it might be alright and if he comes and does anything near what he does (in Scotland) in the Premier League then it would be great.”
United will be in the market for a striker this summer. Bruce said: “We’ve seen over the years players have come down south from Scotland, the likes of Henrik Larssons, Di Canio was up there at Celtic – I think the Scottish League can be a little bit disrespected in terms of quality,” he said.
“They have got some good teams, some good players up there. It would be nice to see how Edouard would do.”
