'I have to question whether I'm too gung-ho away from home' - Graham Coughlan's honest assessment of Bristol Rovers' defeat by Coventry City

Bristol Rovers boss Graham Coughlan questioned his own tactics on the road after his side were consigned to their second away defeat of the season by Coventry City.

Although they were competitive, goals either side of the break from Jordan Shipley and Gervane Kastaneer were enough to sink the Gas .

Coughlan made five changes to the side that drew at home to Wycombe Wanderers in League One last Saturday, sticking with the attacking lineup that saw off Cheltenham Town in midweek.

That meant Kyle Bennett started behind Jonson Clarke-Harris and Tyler Smith, but Rovers still failed to register a single shot on target. They are yet to score in the league this season.

Speaking after the 2-0 defeat, Coughlan said he would consider being less "gung ho" away from the Memorial Stadium .

"I have to question myself this evening," he said.

"Whether I'm a little too gung ho away from home at this moment in time. That's Blackpool now two goals and that's Coventry today two goals.

"I'm just trying to evolve the club possibly too quickly. I don't know. I'll have to have a little sit down with myself tonight, look myself in the mirror and see if I'm trying to do it too quickly, too sharply, because it's just not coming off, it's just not happening for us.

"We are a little bit open, we are a little bit expansive, and we are a little bit vulnerable away from home where last year we had a very solid record, so that needs to be fixed straight away."
