I have forced myself to go on dates only to chicken out later, says Dalljiet Kaur before she fell head-over-heels in love with Nikhil Patel

Before she fell in love with UK-based Nikhil Patel, with whom she is tying the knot in March, Dalljiet Kaur worried the most about making a wrong choice on the personal front. The reason why she took a lot of time to move on following her separation from her ex-husband Shalin Bhanot in 2013, four years after they married.

Talking about why it took her a while to mend her broken heart and be willing to give marriage another chance, she says, “My biggest fear was that I shouldn’t make a wrong decision for the sake of Jaydon. Do-teen saal mein mujhe samajh nahi aaya ki Jaydon ke liye choose kiya toh mera kya hoga aur mere liye kiya toh uska kya hoga (For about a couple of years, I couldn’t understand what would happen to me if I chose someone keeping Jaydon in mind and vice versa).”

The actress ghosted many before she lost her heart to Nikhil. She shares, “I have forced myself to go on dates only to chicken out in two days. I would block the person out of fear because I was vulnerable. However, while I was busy picking up the broken pieces of my life and knowing how much Jaydon missed having a dad, I also realised how much I missed having a companion. Now, that was a new feeling.”

She adds, “I am in love with Nikhil and can feel butterflies in my stomach every time he calls me. I never thought this would happen. I always thought that I would marry first and then fall in love.”

Dalljiet met Nikhil at a party in Dubai and after being in a relationship for about a year, the two exchanged rings on January 3 in Nepal.
