Quite excited to host a reality show, singer Shaan is gearing up to be back on the hosting front after several years. The singer will soon be seen hosting the show Swayamvar - Mika Di Vohti, a reality show where singer Mika Singh will be looking for a partner for himself. Shaan says, “It’s been almost 15 years since I hosted or anchored a show. And generally, I have hosted music shows till now. How could I have missed out on planning my brother, Mika’s wedding, and that is why I am hosting the show. In fact, I had been asking about his wedding for the longest time. He even used to tell me ki bhai aap jab bhi milte ho ek hi baat karte ho. I have always wanted that there should be someone now jo Mika ko sambhale. I had always been pushing Mika for marriage. So when this opportunity to host this show where Mika is going to find his life partner came around, I was like yeh toh karna hi hai.”
Shaan, who has mostly hosted musical show, says he will try to be different with his hosting skills in this one. “I don’t know how I will be hosting this show and whether I will be getting the comedy angle like other hosts into it, but I know Mika for the longest time now, and I will bring the guy behind those glasses, the real Mika in front of them,” he says.
He adds, “I know what is going on in his mind, so I will get more of that personal angle into the show. Also, I will try to hopefully guide him also to some extent as there is going to be a lot of confusion. I have always wished for that stability in Mika’s life.”
Ask him what is happening on the music front otherwise and the singer says, “I have recently released a song that is dedicated to my late mother. Also, live shows have resumed now after two years so I am pretty busy with travelling to different cities.”
Talking about the current music scene in the industry, Shaan says, “Today, all kind of music is working. Beech mein bahot zyada re-creations ho rahe thay. There is no new music trend that has dominated the music industry. In the past few years, a lot of Indie music has come into mainstay. The great thing about the music of today is that there is something for everyone. You can ignore the music which you don’t like but then you will find something which suits your taste. Also, I am more into composing these days. I have tried different genres of composing and there are takers for all sorts of genres. I am really enjoying this phase as I am not being forced to fit into one kind of box.”
But there are things which the singer misses these days. “Film music has gone very confused today. Songs earlier used to be larger than life and films had a lot of songs and dances. But today’s tracks are closer to the story and mostly they are background songs,” he rues.
