A man has divided opinion after admitting that he purposefully registered his daughter's name behind his wife's back.
When the proud dad welcomed a little girl with his partner, the pair were overjoyed with their 'absolute ball of joy.' But they struggled to agree on the best name for their child.
"I'm a traditional man, I like traditional names with a rich history and profound meaning. My wife on the other hand wants to name our child something unique, something that literally no one else on earth will think of," the dad explained in a post to Reddit.
He wrote: "Some of her suggestions include: Hoohee, Joejie, Yabba, and Buza. Any one can see that these names are absolutely ridiculous, and she will probably never land a respectable job.

"By the way we're both Caucasian so these aren't cultural names or anything. I suggested some names like Amelia, Ella, and Sophia, but she said that those were 'too common'."
Unfortunately, they did not come to a compromise, though. Instead, the dad decided to intervene, prompting the post in which he asked if he was in the wrong.
Not wanting to use his wife's pick, the dad registered their daughter's name behind his partner's back.
"She insisted on the name Buza but I absolutely refused. I told her no one will take her seriously with a name like that and that she was just pursuing the novelty of unique name without thinking about what actually works for her," he claimed.
"I saw that she was completely set on the name that she chose and there was no way I could convince her otherwise. So the next morning I went by myself to register our daughter's name because I was worried my wife would go and do it first."
As you might expect, his wife was furious when he shared the news. "I chose a really pretty name for her that wasn't too old fashioned and I thought my wife would be okay with it. But when I got home and told her, she was furious with me," he outlined.
The mum also accused him of acting like an '[a**hole]', but he's convinced he would have been the 'bigger [a**hole]' for giving their daughter 'a name that could ruin her life.'
Most commenters shared a very different reaction to his confession, however. While several thought the dad did the right thing by his daughter, others said both parents 'behaved badly.'
"Y'all need to have a serious conversation about how you're going to resolve disagreements about parenting moving forward because refusal to compromise and one parent hijacking the decision behind the other parents back is going to just create bigger problems for you as parents and as a married couple," read one reply.
A second said: "If those truly were the names your wife wanted, I agree that they are terrible and your wife wants attention. Having said that, you are a major [a**hole] for going behind her back." But someone else wrote: "Yeah, they both behaved badly, but I bet the kid is going to be grateful someday that dad won." And a different person commented: "He is a father and he owes his kid to protect it. This is just one step to do so."
