My sisters terrible baby name choice is going to ruin our relationship
pWeapos;ve all heard enough nightmare tales when it comes to prospective parents choosing baby names./p
pLots of parents-to-be can get very territorial, to say the least, over their chosen moniker./p
pItapos;s partly why so many people elect to keep the name secret until the big day in a bid to avoid any drama/p
pIf you keep it under your hat, itapos;s the easiest way to ensure you avoid any rows with family and friends./p
pBecause clearly, a lot of people have *very* strong opinions./p

pIf you need further proof, hereapos;s one womanapos;s account of trying to negotiate with her sister after she made an unusual request./p
pShe went to Redditapos;s quot;Am I the A******?quot; forum asking for advice on how to deal with the situation./p
pHer sister recently got in touch to ask that she change her catapos;s name, which is Dio because her boyfriendapos;s uncle has a similar name./p
pShe explains: quot;I have two cats, Tonks and Dio./p
pquot;Tonks named after the HP [Harry Potter] character and Dioapos;s name is a little funny; named after DiGiorno pizza./p
pquot;[I] Just liked Dio and my mom and I thought it was funny./p
pquot; So now my sister has been saying sheapos;s gonna start trying for a baby. Iapos;m like cool okay congrats (not a big fan of kids myself but good luck to her)./p

pquot;Fast forward three months and shes pregnant and starts talking baby names and s***.quot;/p
pAll good news so far....but this is when it gets odd./p
pThe woman gets a text from a friend of her sisterapos;s boyfriend dropping a bombshell./p
pShe continues: quot;Well her boyfriendapos;s friend texts me yesterday saying her bfapos;s family has a tito [uncle] Dio and would appreciate if I rename or (and I cannot believe this) rehome my cat./p
papos;Friend said he could take him, like what the f***?/p
pquot; No youapos;re not taking my cat and no Iapos;m not renaming him so thatapos;s what I tell the friend./p
pquot; And like two hours later my sister calls me and just says something like she canapos;t ever be over at our (mine and moms) house with a cat named after her son./p

pquot;Itapos;s disrespectful, I cannot understand how shes functioning right now, mentally this is so stupid.quot;/p
pThe womanapos;s refusal to comply has only deepened the row - as her mum suggested they rename the cat./p
pShe added: quot;My mom said something like apos;Well we can call him deedee or d hes already 11.apos;/p
pquot;Thatapos;s even more reason for me to not change his name heapos;s f****** 11./p
pquot;Heapos;s had this name for a decade???? I know I SHOULD care more about a nephew than a cat but this is like my kid./p
pquot;I donapos;t want him to be confused and scared for the last half of his life. and I know my sister./p
pquot;Sheapos;d bring her son over and let him f*** with the cats and call it cute and take pictures even if I tell her to stop.quot;/p
pAnyway, sheapos;s now stood firm and now her mum and sister are asking her to reconsider./p
pAfter detailing the bonkers exchange, the woman asked if she was in the wrong./p
pOne person advised: quot;Refuse to accept quot;boyfriendapos;s uncleapos;s nicknamequot; as a reason./p
pquot;Insist, and keep on insisting that it all about your cat, and that youapos;d be honored that she chose to name her kid after your cat ... if only it werenapos;t for the a**holes insisting you rename or rehome your cat.quot;/p
pAnother joked: quot;Tell them youapos;ll rename your cat Tio, in honor of the boyfriendapos;s uncle./p
pquot; And by the way, naming your kid Dio, will forever have people asking if heapos;s named after the singer.quot;/p
