'I hate football sometimes' Everton fans gutted as Jean-Phillipe Gbamin suffers injury blow

Everton's new midfield addition Jean-Phillipe Gbamin is facing eight weeks on the sidelines with a thigh injury.

The 23-year-old Ivory Coast midfielder, who signed from Mainz for £25m in the summer, featured in the Toffees ' two opening league games.

The club have confirmed today that they will establish a "full timescale" for the midfielder's right quadriceps injury in the coming weeks, although he is expected to miss of eight weeks.

A statement on the club's website read: "Everton Football Club can confirm that Jean-Philippe Gbamin has sustained a tendon injury in his right quadriceps muscle, which will keep the midfielder out of action for at least eight weeks.

"The full timescale for the injury will be established following further investigations this week.

"The club are in communication with leading experts around Europe to ensure the optimal outcome."

This is a huge blow to Gbamin, who will miss a minimum of seven Everton games, starting with their Carabao Cup clash against Lincoln City on Wednesday.

The injury could offer the chance for Tom Davies to get more first-team football, as he battles for a place alongside either Morgan Schneiderlin, Andre Gomes or Fabian Delph in the centre of the park.

The Englishman is yet to start for Everton this season but is expected to feature against the Imps this week.

It's clear that the news hasn't gone down with Evertonians, who are understandably frustrated for their new recruit.

The Toffees' faithful took to social media to send out their best wishes to Gbamin.

Here's what they've been saying on social media.
