An Uber driver witnessed a man unmasked firsthand after he dropped off the man’s date while driving. In a TikTok video with more than 654,000 views, Shawn (@shawntv96) recounted picking up a couple from a restaurant, dropping the woman, identified only as Leah, off first. The man stayed in the car for the second leg of the trip.
What happened on this Uber ride?
“As soon as Leah got out, he says, ‘She’s [expletive] sexy, isn’t she?’” Shawn said. The man went on to call Leah a “thick Latina baddie” and told the driver he wanted to “go home with [her].”
Shawn said he tried to avoid engaging, but the comments escalated. “Yeah, she’s kind of a prude. Maybe I should call ICE on her just to teach her a lesson,” the man said.
At that point, Shawn pulled into a 7-Eleven on South Lamar Boulevard and told the passenger to get out. The man insisted he was joking, but Shawn said he was done with the ride, wanting to hear nothing else. He later made a video warning Leah about the man’s behavior.
In a follow-up comment, Shawn said he notified Uber about the incident, which is standard procedure when a driver removes a passenger.
“I forgot to mention. I call[ed] Uber to let them know I had to kick somebody out of the car, right, because whenever we have to kick somebody [out] of the car in this situation, we do need to call them and tell them. So technically, Leah might already know about this. I just wasn’t thinking because I was so furious when this happened. I don’t know if Uber called Leah to let her know what happened or not.”
Dating culture and entitlement
The exchange struck a nerve with viewers, with many pointing to the sense of entitlement behind the man’s comments. Relationship advice site eNotAlone has described how some people use money as a form of power to get what they want, fueling toxic cultures within modern dating.
That includes treating hookup expectations as a given and brushing off racist remarks—discussing calling ICE on a woman because she is Hispanic—as jokes. One commenter on Shawn’s video wrote, “It’s only a joke when someone gets upset. He is 100% serious about that. Thank you for your service.”

Did Leah see the video?
Despite Shawn tagging ABA, the restaurant where he picked up the couple, and boosting the clip in Austin-based online communities, it is unclear whether Leah has seen the post. Many commenters said they hoped it would land on her TikTok For You page.
The Mary Sue has reached out to Uber via email and Shawn via TikTok direct message for an update.
