We all grow up to inherit traits and certain features from our parents, but one mum and daughter on TikTok look so similar many believe they could pass as twins.
Jessica Alvarez, who posts under the username @jessicaalvarez712, welcomed her daughter into the world when she was just 16, and now that her child is a teenager herself, people can’t believe how alike they are.
In one TikTok video, Jessica can be seen standing in front of the camera before it cuts to her 15-year-old daughter Shantel at the end.
Text on the clip reads: “Me realising I’ve been a mum since I was 16 and we’ve legit grown up together.”

And many of the video’s 6,300 commenters can’t believe the teenager in the video is actually Jessica’s daughter.
One person wrote: “Girl, I thought you’d show a 2-3 year old baby, not a full grown person.”
Which prompted Jessica to respond: “She turns 16 next month!”
Another comment read: “Are you playing you daughter here or is she your twin?”, to which Jessica said: “She’s 100 percent my daughter!”
While a third shocked TikTok user posted: “WHAT?! You’re telling me that’s not you?”
In another video, Jessica – who is from America and is also mum to eight-year-old Max – explained she became a mum during her sophomore year of high school, and that no-one believes they’re actually mother and daughter.
She said: “I became a teen mum when I was 16 (sophomore). She was with me from 10th to 12th grade. Now she’s 15 and I’m 32 and no-one believes she’s my daughter.”
And that video also has hundreds of comments from people who are blown away by how similar the two women look.
One person replied: “Both of you are so beautiful and so much alike! You are strong.”
While another said: “She literally said copy and paste oh my god. So cute!”
And a third added: “It must be so hard having a baby at that time of life, but I’m proud of you. You did grow a beautiful girl like her.”
