Billions star Melissa Errico has claimed she helped to save a man who fell onto the subway tracks in New York just as a train was approaching.

The Tony-nominated actor, who is also known for her roles on Broadway, said she had “blood all over” her after the incident at 14th Street Station in Manhattan.

Errico told People magazine she had just left her vocal coach’s studio on Wednesday when she saw the “desperate and scared” man who had “broken his foot and cut his arms”.

She explained that two strangers were attempting to lift the injured man before she intervened.

“I could see the two men giving up,” Errico said. “They were letting him go.”

She added: “I literally hopped into action. I came running over. I was like, ‘You can’t lift him? We got this.’”

Errico explained that the group managed to get the man back onto the platform safely with an oncoming train pulling to a stop just moments earlier. He was reportedly treated by EMTs and taken to a local hospital.
