I had a 'Hydrafacial' at Laser Clinics and it significantly reduced my blemishes

I've always had problematic skin, but it's been particularly bad recently, and I couldn't quite figure out why.

After trying out numerous different skincare routines and lathering on an array of products to my face religiously morning and night, I began to ask myself, is all this making my skin worse? I was told by a Skin + Me doctor that I had acne, so took a trip to Laser Clinics for a second opinion.

That's where the Hydrafacial comes in. A rather expensive £149 treatment that promises a lot, which I was very intrigued about. To make matters even more intriguing, I've never actually had a facial before, so I was going in at the deep end.

So, what exactly is a Hydrafacial? Well, the £149 facial at Laser Clinics uses a 'patented technology' to cleanse, extract and hydrate. It uses super serums made with 'nourishing' ingredients to create a glow.

The steps include cleansing and peeling, extracting and hydrating and fusing and protecting. The technology deeply cleanses the skin using botanical ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, horse chesnut seed extract, red algae extract, copper, zinc and magnesium peptides.

It is also said to deliver 'powerful antioxidants' to counteract damage by free radicals. I, for one, had never heard of free radicals until my trip, but they are basically things like pollution, sun and stress which can accelerate the ageing process - yikes.

Laser Clinics in Liverpool is currently holding its first anniversary event, so there was no better way to celebrate than to get my skin sorted. Now, I know that removing blemishes is never a quick fix, but I knew this was a step in the right direction on my positive skin journey.

Being someone that gets very conscious to leave the house without makeup on, I was a bit nervous to bare all to the Laser Clinics team - and to the ECHO readers in my video footage - but I knew I had to. Being a total facial novice, I was excited and almost a little bit nervous about my 45 minutes 'deluxe' Hydrafacial treatment.

Thankfully, I was made to feel so welcome as soon as I entered the building, and was taken into my treatment room after filling out some safety forms. A member of the team Abbi was assigned for my facial, and she couldn't have been more helpful.

We sat down and discussed my skin issues, which currently are blemishes and ageing (being the ripe old age of 27) and she listened and paid attention. She spoke to me about skincare in great detail, and the things that can really affect my skin such as pollution and hormones.

There and then, she had already come up with a skincare regime to put me on the road to recovery, and I was so chuffed with it. I felt relaxed, at ease, and ready for the treatment.

I always assumed a Hydrafacial would be totally relaxing, and although this treatment was relaxing in some parts, it definitely surprised me in some places. I was really glad of this though, because I knew that with each utensil Abbi was actually working into my skin deeply, and not just massaging it for relaxation.

I wish I could name to you all the gadgets Abbi used, but what I can tell you is that the process involved cleansing and peeling, extracting and hydrating, and fusing and protecting and LED. The cleanse and peeling process was so refreshing, but the extracting process was a little on the painful side.

It was all for a good reason though, because two days after my facial my blemishes have reduced significantly, and I can thank Abbi and her amazing work at Laser Clinics for that. Granted, I do have a long way to go, but l know for a fact I'll be visiting again.

The facial itched that scratch that basic skincare just can't resolve. I felt fresh, clean and rejuvenated. I just wish I'd gone for a facial sooner, because I was absolutely glowing afterwards.

The Laser Clinics team went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and in good hands. My skin journey most definitely starts now. Visit the Laser Clinics website here to find out more. You can find Laser Clinics Liverpool at 72 Lord St, Liverpool L2 1TL.
