'I got the one-shot Janssen vaccine at my local pharmacy and this is how it went'

I've never been so grateful to be working an early shift when news broke on Friday that those aged 18-34 could finally get jabbed.

Yours truly luckily managed to get onto Dargan's Pharmacy in Phibsborough at 9.01am - a mere 60 seconds after they opened.

Organising my appointment was swift and easy - all they needed was my name, date of birth and PPS number.

Once I brought ID to my appointment - which was at 2.30pm on Monday - we were ready to rock.

Everything went as smoothly as possible. I had to arrive five minutes early where my pharmacist went through the consent forms, and kindly answered all of my annoying questions. They also give you a few sheets listed with side-effects and post-jab advice.

For me, like many aged in their 20s, the one-shot Janssen vaccine was on the cards.

I've always been fine with needles - but if you're not you should try not to worry - it was all over in a few seconds and I finally had my vaccination card!

Afterwards I had to wait around for 15 minutes to make sure I didn't have an allergic reaction.

Four hours later and luckily I feel fine - apart from a sore arm and a small bit of fatigue.

I can't emphasise enough how important it is to be vaccinated, and I'm personally delighted that I can soon hug my granny and granddad again.
