‘I got my Tesco Clubcard tattooed on me because I kept forgetting to scan it and I'm racking up the points'

Clubcards are an essential part of shopping these days, especially with the rising cost of everyday items in supermarkets. If you forget to bring your points card out with you, you could end up missing out on special offers that could save you money.

One Tesco fan who hates missing out on a bargain has ensured he will never miss out on Clubcard offers again as he got it tattooed on his wrist.

Dean Mayhew says getting the QR code tattooed on his body was totally worth it as he would always forget to bring it while out doing the shop.

The 31-year-old says it scans perfectly at the till and uses it two times a day.

Having got the tat last July, the dad of three from Bideford, north Devon, says he has “no regrets” about getting the ink, however he added that cashiers are always “shocked” when he whips it out at the till.

Dean, who is scaffolder, said: "I still use it all the time. I love the tattoo so much.

"Sometimes when I go in there, the cashier doesn't believe it's real - I have to tell them 'just scan it please!' and they're shocked.

"Everything's going up in price so I'm always making sure I get it scanned now. With the points, I'm going to save them up and save towards the cost of Christmas."

Dean got the tattoo on July 16 last year from artist Dan Rossetter, 39, at A Star Tattoo in Chessington, Surrey,

He said he had been considering it for months - and headed straight to the nearest Tesco Express to try it out.

Dean said he has to keep his arm hair trimmed to ensure it doesn't block the bar code.

He added: "Sometimes for presents, in the toy section things will be half the price when you get a Clubcard discount.

"I've also done in the past where I've gone to Tesco and done a big shop, and the points I saved up would take it down by half.

"It will help out a lot, especially this year, with everything going up in price. I definitely don't regret getting the tattoo."

Although Dean has only collected £18 worth of points so far, he's considering getting a tattoo of his Nectar card for when he shops at Sainsbury's.

Dean said: "I could use the one on my phone but I want to use the one on my arm as it’s funny. "
