'I got angry with Eden Hazard': Thibaut Courtois frustrated with Real Madrid star's Levante cameo

Eden Hazard made his long-awaited Real Madrid debut off the bench as his new club held on to beat Levante 3-2 in La Liga — but the former Chelsea man didn’t manage to impress everybody.

Hazard came on as a substitute in the 60th minute of a game which saw Karim Benzema score twice.

The France international made it four goals for the season before Casemiro put Real 3-0 up before half-time.

Borja Mayoral and Gonzalo Melero pulled goals back in the second half for Levante but Zinedine Zidane's side held on for the win.

Real will hope Hazard will now be fit to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League this week, but his performance against Levante wasn’t good enough to impress Thibaut Courtois, who commented afterwards that he felt his new team-mate gave the ball away too often.

“Eden showed what he can do in the move where we nearly scored: relaxed on the ball, able to set people up,” Courtois told reporters after the match.

“I got a bit angry at him a couple of times, because he tried to back heel it and gave it away. But in those moments that he has, he can create a lot of danger.”

The win lifts Real to second in La Liga table, one point behind pacesetters Atletico Madrid.
