A woman who shares her impressive make-up videos on social media has hit out at vicious trolls who call her a "catfish" for using beauty products to transform her look.
Charlotte Rough, 18, has seen several of her TikTok videos go viral with millions of views between them, and while the majority of the comments she receives are positive, there are also often messages left by people who criticise the way she looks before putting on make-up.
The woman, from Scotland, says the comments are "very harmful" as they perpetuate the idea that she can never look as good without make-up on as she does with it.
Speaking to The Mirror, she said: "I receive a lot of criticism and hate on those types of videos. I get called a 'catfish' mostly, which can be very harmful as it's hinting that I can never look as good as I do with makeup on.

"I also experience a lot of 'you only look good because you have 5000 pounds of makeup on' comments, which are just ridiculous!"
Charlotte, who posts on TikTok under the username @charlotterough, has learned to not let the negative comments get to her, but it wasn't always that easy - with the negativity she received taking a toll on her mental health.
She added: "At the start of the viral videos, it most definitely had a huge toll on my mental health. I was recieving death threats and thousands of comments that were calling me 'ugly' and 'fat'. I have now learned to ignore the comments, and there is more love than hate!"
The woman has over 74,000 followers on TikTok and is also active on her Instagram account, @charlotteroughh, and despite the negative attention she gets from trolls, she loves the community she's founded online.

Speaking about her TikTok success, she said: "Honestly, I'm over the moon! Social media has always been something I've enjoyed. I’ve been watching other makeup artists on the app 'blow up' and it was always so intriguing to me, and it's insane as I'm now one of those people to have multiple videos do extremely well!"
And while she's still young, Charlotte - who says she views make-up as an "art" - is hoping to release her own make-up line one day with the help of her online success.
She said: "I'd definitely say make-up to me is an art form. I enjoy being sat at my make-up desk and listening to music and just enjoying the process of the before and after.
"I would love to one day have my own make-up line. I’d love to continue to grow my platforms on both TikTok and Instagram, and would love to continue entertaining others as that's the main reason I do what I do!"
