‘I Found This Sick Trip’: The Inspired Unemployed Boys Want To Plan Your Next Adventure

inspired-unemployed

When they’re not racking up millions of views with their hilarious skits on TikTok, the boys behind The Inspired Unemployed, Jack Steele and Matt Ford, are busy planning your next travel-based adventure.

So much so that the loveable larrikins are gearing up for the launch of their very own curated travel brand, ARRIVAL… but it’s not about the typical holiday experiences you might expect.

Well beyond the usual beachside mimosas (which still have their place), ARRIVAL is all about off-the-beaten-track experiences, offering the chance to book multi-day, immersive journeys all around the world.

With a focus on travellers with an interest in culture, wellness, snow, surf, music, and events — ranging from luxury to backpacker-friendly travel — ARRIVAL’s slew of offerings is not for the faint of heart, from surf trips in Costa Rica, France and Fiji (mimosas optional) to backcountry skiing in Georgia.

If all that wasn’t thrilling enough, ARRIVAL also offers travel adventures like guided Kilimanjaro and wildlife treks in Tanzania, and trips to Mount Everest Base Camp. While you’re there, you may as well pour yourself a mimosa and mosey your way up to the tippy top.

Those are just some of the 50 immediately bookable adventures available upon ARRIVAL’s launch, with their trip offerings ranging from three days to over two weeks. Ever wanted to trek through the Dolomites or motorcycle through Kyrgyzstan? ARRIVAL’s got your itinerary packed out with enough thrill-seeking to warrant that mimosa, with some of the adventures starting at as little as $1,000.

What’s more, ARRIVAL’s travel packages are designed to be either folded into your broader itineraries, or to serve as standalone experiences. ARRIVAL has been in the works for years, with Jack and Matt first discussing the idea while planning a friend trip in 2023.

While ARRIVAL won’t officially launch until early next month, you can get in early by heading to the website and registering to become an ARRIVAL insider, complete with first-access, trips and tales from the Inspired Unemployed.

In the meantime, we caught up with Jack and Matt to reminisce on the kind of difficult-to-plan trips that ARRIVAL hopes to ease.

“Hardest to organise was definitely our Jordan trip,” Jack said.

“Trying to book it was a nightmare. I’m scrolling through Reddit threads at 2am trying to work out if this tour operator was legit or if we were going to get scammed. There were some reviews that said it was the most incredible experience they’d ever been on, but the website was a bit sketch and I had to send money to some bloke via bank transfer to book it.”

Thankfully, after “standing by the side of the road in Jordan waiting for some guy to come pick us up,” as Jack recalled, their plans ended up pulling through, and “it ended up being one of the best trips we’ve ever done”.

“Sleeping under the stars in Wadi Rum, sharing meals with locals, the whole thing was incredible. We came back from that experience just being like ‘man, how do we do more of that?’”

“That’s exactly why we wanted to build ARRIVAL,” Matt added. “People shouldn’t have to do detective work to find amazing experiences like that.”
