Late night noise, fence disputes, and parking spot feuds are all the hallmarks of a nightmare neighbour, which can turn your forever home into hell very quickly. One woman shared how she realised she was the neighbour from hell after receiving an email from next door.
Posting to her TikTok account @michellemeleskie, the woman took to platform to share her embarrassment, as she admitted: "I just found out that I am the neighbour from hell and I feel terrible."
Her polite neighbour had emailed her to notify her about noise coming from her apartment, worried for Michelle's safety but Michelle didn't read it or respond until the next morning.
She explained: "I was out last night and I woke up to an email from my neighbour that came through at around 9.45, being like 'Hey Michelle, your fire alarm has been going off for hours now and your light's on, so I'm concerned that you're home and that there's been an accident'"
As Michelle didn't check her emails at that time, she had no idea about the noisy alarm sounding in her home. The neighbour became concerned after hearing no response so called the police, believing Michelle was harmed.
Luckily another neighbour did have a key to the flat and opened it while they were on the phone to the police. A check of the flat revealed that Michelle was not hurt - or even at home.
"My neighbour literally just took my fire alarm off my ceiling so that it doesn't keep going off in the middle of the night," added Michelle.

"But apparently it was going off for like 5 hours and even the noise is just irritating - I feel terrible. And I'm just like, I'm that person that you b**ch to your friends about," she said.
Her guilt didn't stop there as the neighbour sent Michelle another email in which she explained what had happened.
"It was just like, 'I'm so glad you're okay'," Michelle recalled. "She was just genuinely concerned about me!"
People in her comments were quick to reassure Michelle that she was not a nightmare neighbour as this was merely an accident and not intentional disruption.
One said: "I mean you would be if you were there and you let it go for hours," one wrote. But you were not there, so you are not the neighbour from hell."
Another agreed: "This... is not being the neighbour from hell... those would be deliberately making loud noise at 3pm or some ish like that" and others sounded off that she was "only the neighbour from hell if [she] did it intentionally."
Many said it was sweet that her neighbour was so worried about her and that Michelle should take her flowers or wine as a thank you and apology.
