'I filled a Christmas stocking with Home Bargains gifts for less than £15'

With four weeks to go until the big day, your thoughts may well have turned to Christmas presents and filling those stockings.

Yet with costs spiralling, most families will be wanting to curb their spending, especially if they have more than one child to buy for.

Leaving it until the last minute means you can't spread the cost and you may well end up panic buying, or not finding what you want in stock.

I filled a stocking from Home Bargains for less than £15 (Manchester Family / MEN)

Many stores have had their festive ranges on shelves for weeks already and at budget shops in particular there are loads of ideas for helping to fill a child's stocking.

We've been taking a look at Home Bargains for some inspiration and there are some real treats in store - especially with its huge range of Grinch-themed goodies.

We managed to fill a stocking by spending less than £15, with the total coming to £14.42 for eight items.

That's not including the price of the stocking itself, as most people reuse the same one each year, but if you did want to stick with the Grinch theme this one is £5.99. On one side it says 'I'm on the naughty list' and on the other side 'I'm on the nice list' - we'll let you decide that one.

The other Grinch products include the Grinch Bomb - a peppermint flavour mug melt with chocolate chips and marshmallows inside - for £1.99 and a bag of chocolate coins with pictures of Grinch characters on them, for 99p.

Three other 99p products were included in our haul - an elf sheet face mask, gingerbread man bath fizzer and a bunny pencil sharpener.

The most expensive item was the elf hot chocolate mug set, at £4.99, which your little one could use for the hot drink and marshmallows that come with it, as well as the Grinch Bomb.

Here's the full list of stocking surprises

  • Cheeky Elf sheet mask 99p
  • Gingerbread man bath fizzer 99p
