When asked if he was anxious to see Eddy Pineiro kick field goals Thursday, Bears coach Nagy said, half-kidding, that he hoped it didn’t come to that.
“I want to see a lot of extra points — I don’t want field goals,” he said Tuesday. “And that’s nothing against him. That’s just the mindset we have of an offense.
“If he gets a chance to go out there, then see him really have that confidence going out there and putting it.”
He said Pineiro has “just been himself” throughout the kicker derby.
“He has a happy-go-lucky attitude — he shows that after he makes his kicks,” Nagy said. “He’s frustrated after he misses his kicks. I kind of like that, it shows that he really cares and I’m okay with that. You know this whole entire time he’s never run away from the challenge we have given him mentally and then physically. He’s attacked it full steam ahead.”
