A woman who ditched toilet paper for a "family cloth" believes she is saving the world one wipe at a time. TikToker Channon Rose sparked outrage online after sharing a video explaining how she swapped traditional toilet roll for a reusable cloth, claiming it's much better for the environment.
In her video, which has been viewed more than 600,000 times, she said: "I no longer buy toilet paper. We use reusable toilet paper. Some people might think it's gross." She went on to explain how she has a bidet and only uses the family cloth to "wipe dry" after visiting the bathroom. We throw this in our laundry, we wash it with our regular clothes. I'd rather have water and cloth. I feel like it just cleans me way better. So, reusable toilet paper for the win," she added.
"I make these myself. I just cut them up, serge the edges and just wash them with our clothes. No extra laundry whatsoever."
But toilet roll isn't the only item she has swapped in her bathroom in an attempt to be more eco-friendly, as she also stocks reusable tissues and sanitary towels.
Speaking about her eco-friendly period products, she said: "I love them. I've noticed I have way less cramping.
"I don’t know if that’s a coincidence but that’s just my experience. But they work amazing - I'm saving so much money and it’s great for the environment."
However, not everybody was convinced by her choice in hygiene products, saying she must be joking because it's too hard to believe.
One user said: "You're kidding about the toilet paper right."
Another user added: "You lost me at 'wash them with our clothes'."
A third user said: "Is this a joke?"
However, other users showed their support towards her commitment to the planet, vowing to cut down on the non-reusable items they use on a daily basis.
One user said: "I’m trying to get my family on the bidet train. I hope it’s the future of our country along with cloth diapering. It would make a difference."
Another user added: "Reusable pads changed my periods undeniably! Less cramps, lighter, less days, and so comfy!"
One more user said: "I don’t have a bidet but i do use flushable wipes and I love them."
