'I don't understand it': Sol Campbell furious at Southend United players after Bristol Rovers loss

Sol Campbell was furious with his Southend United players after they threw away a 2-0 half time lead against Bristol Rovers.

The Gas scored four second half goals in a incredible comeback at the Mem, with boss Graham Coughlan admitting he cancelled Rovers' Christmas party at half time after an abject first half.

Sol Campbell was livid after the game, saying he didn't understand why they stopped the level of performance they showed in the first half.

The former Arsenal defender told BBC Essex: "I said to the guys the game's not done, you've got to keep doing the same things. Then it's all out the window, players not getting back in position, not busting a gut to do the same things.

"Maybe some of the players thought the game was done, finished. As individuals and as a team, we have to recognise that you've got to be fighting for every inch of the pitch and you've got to be in position."

Goals from Jonson Clarke-Harris, Abu Ogogo, Ed Upson and Alfie Kilgour overturned goals from Tom Hopper and Brandon Goodship to secure all three points for the Gas.

Speaking after the game, Campbell admitted his team threw the match away.

He said: "For some reason, we don't want to get in position, we don't want to go where it hurts, we don't want to keep on running. I can understand it after 80 minutes but not just after half-time. I'm not having it.

"We just chucked an amazing first half out of the window. We could have gone on and won that game but we stopped doing the right things in the second half.

"We've got to look at ourselves and why we don't want to move five yards to get in position. I really don't know what world these guys are living in now. We stopped doing all the things that got us to 2-0 and I don't understand it."
