While Team India has established itself as a formidable team on home turf, captain Rohit Sharma emphasized on Wednesday that he is hesitant to categorize his squad as "unbeatable" and stressed the importance of maintaining consistency in their performance to overcome England in the upcoming five-match Test series.
The opening match is set to commence on Thursday, and Rohit expressed his primary focus on the strategic aspects of his team's gameplay.
India have maintained an unbeaten record at home for the past 12 years, with the last team to defeat them on their own soil being England, led by Alastair Cook, back in 2012.
"I don't think we are unbeatable. We don't want to think like that. But whatever past records that we have over the last decade or so, (they) do not guarantee that we will come out on top in this series. We have to play well to win this series," said Rohit during his pre-match press meet here on Wednesday.
Rohit expressed that the victory against South Africa in the second Test at Cape Town has instilled a significant amount of confidence in the team as they look forward to the series against England.
"The Cape Town win was good but this match is in Hyderabad. It is different conditions, different opposition. But yeah, that win has given us a lot of confidence and we can take that into this series," said Rohit.
