Chris Hoy

'I don't miss the lactic acid burn you get from the last lap'

Chris Hoy, from Scotland, is a multiple world champion as well as an Olympic champion.

His specialist discipline of the kilometre sprint has been dropped from the Olympic programme so won't be racing in the "kilo" at the world championships.

Despite his success, Hoy still labours in obscurity as illustrated by his account of being knocked over by a police van.

He is intensely competitive and disciplined but largely unknown.
