"I don't know how they did it" - Jurgen Klopp raises question over Manchester United transfers

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said he doesn't know how Manchester United pulled off their summer spending spree.

United have had an excellent summer in the transfer market as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer moved to improve his squad to make them into serious Premier League title challengers.

After several failed attempts, Jadon Sancho finally signed in a £72.9million deal from Borussia Dortmund, a significantly lower fee than what the German side was demanding 12 months ago.

Raphael Varane has also moved to Old Trafford, though he is yet to be officially unveiled as a United player. The club have secured the centre-back in a £41million deal as he was in the final year of his contract at Real Madrid after winning all there was to win in Spain.

It's an expenditure of £113.9million and Klopp has been left puzzled as to how United secured the deals from a financial perspective.

"We all know the situation of Chelsea and City and PSG," Klopp said ahead of Liverpool's opening match against Norwich.

"What United are doing, I don't know how they did it. We have our own way to do it. We are allowed to spend the money we earn, that we always did. This year we spent before we earned money with Konate because after last season, just to be clear, we cannot take any risk in this position at all.

"I'm never surprised about the financial power of Chelsea, City or United, I've been here long enough to know they always find a solution to these things."
