'I don’t feel much pressure' - Joe McDonnell hoping for perfect start at Notts County

Joe McDonnell says he is not "feeling much pressure" ahead of his Notts County debut as he targeted FA Trophy success at Yeovil.

The new Magpies  goalkeeper is expected to start the third round clash at Huish Park after signing a deal until the end of the season earlier this week.

He will be hoping to inspire Notts' first victory at Huish Park since 2005 which will see them take another step closer to Wembley.

McDonnell is set for an extended run in the team due to a thigh injury to Sam Slocombe which looks set to keep him sidelined for the next six to eight weeks.

And he is hoping to make the perfect start to his career at Meadow Lane by helping Notts overcome their National League promotion rivals.

“It’s almost like I’ve been rested all season just to come and play now so I’m looking forward to getting as many games as I can and helping the team win,” said the keeper.

“It’s good to be thrown straight into it because you want to bed yourself in and get to know the lads and what they are like, so it helps you learn and understand the team quickly.

“I don’t feel much pressure. It’s only what you put on yourself and you just have to go and do your job.

“We’ve got to go there, put a performance in and get ourselves heading home happy.”
