‘I did this with Claire’s’: Starbucks worker gets laid off. So she takes home nearly the entire store, including the decor

Getting laid off is an unfortunate reality for many businesses. However, for one former Starbucks worker, it was time to get even.

As part of a compilation clip, TikToker @user18279292295 shared an image showng other staff members removing pictures from the wall. They also show footage of a huge Starbucks haul, including a vast array of syrup pumps, packaged food, reusable cups, reusable straws, and even a coffee maker.

The video was accompanied by on-screen text that read: “Took my job so I took their store #getback #starbucks.”

However, in the video description, the user added important context. “My store manager AND district manager told us all to take what we want. No one left with these things without permission!” they wrote.

The TikToker didn’t immediately respond to The Mary Sue’s request for comment via TikTok comment.

Commenters were both impressed and concerned

Along with a number of commenters asking to take the various syrups off the TikToker’s hands, some admitted that they could relate to this attitude.

“I would turn off that security camera so fast,” one joked. “I would’ve went home with an espresso machine,” another wrote. A third added that their “entire apartment decor would be Starbucks fitted. While a fourth asked, “And what are they gonna do about it?!”

Elsewhere, users expressed concern for the TikToker. One comment stated, “Girl, they are gonna take away the pay.”

What’s going on with Starbucks?

In September, Starbucks announced that it would be closing 1% of its stores in North America. According to CNN, this amounts to approximately 400 stores and leads to 900 staff members losing their jobs.

“I shared earlier this year that we were carefully reviewing our North America coffeehouse portfolio through the additional lens of our Back to Starbucks plan,” Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol said in a statement. “Our goal is for every coffeehouse to deliver a warm and welcoming space with a great atmosphere and a seat for every occasion. “

“During the review, we identified coffeehouses where we’re unable to create the physical environment our customers and partners expect, or where we don’t see a path to financial performance, and these locations will be closed.”

He went on to add that Starbucks is aiming to “offer transfers to nearby locations where possible,” and “comprehensive severance packages” for those who can’t “immediately” be transferred.

Starbucks didn’t immediately respond to The Mary Sue’s request for comment via email.
