Okay, full disclosure: it’s a little weird to suddenly be interested in a show I’d never even heard of, and to jump straight in at season 3’s trailer. But hey, when I saw the words “alien invasion” pop up after a quick Google search, my sci-fi-loving heart didn’t stand a chance. Curiosity got the best of me, and now I’m hooked enough to want to binge the whole thing from the start.
“Invasion” seems to be one of Apple’s more overlooked shows, especially compared to the huge fanbases built up by sci-fi hits like “Severance” and “Silo.” While it’s a shame that this alien invasion story hasn’t received the same amount of attention, the show is still moving forward with renewals, and just based on the premise alone, I’m seriously intrigued.
Apple TV Plus recently dropped the trailer for “Invasion” season 3, and now I’m planning to binge the first two seasons before the new episodes arrive on August 22.
The first two seasons of “Invasion” introduced audiences to a global alien invasion, unfolding through the perspectives of individuals in various locations, including New York, Afghanistan, Japan, Oklahoma, and the U.K.
Season 3’s trailer has elevated the stakes even further. It reveals that the alien apex predators have evolved, becoming more formidable and deadly. The core characters, who were previously scattered across the globe, are now uniting for the first time to confront this enhanced threat.
While the idea of a global alien invasion initially piqued my interest, it’s actually the incredible visuals that truly sold me. Although Apple hasn’t officially released the budgets for each season, reports suggest that each one costs around $200 million to produce. And honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s accurate. The visuals are that impressive.
‘Invasion’ has gone straight onto my must-watch list

Beyond the trailer’s intense visuals and intriguing premise, what really makes “Invasion” stand out is how it weaves together deeply personal stories within a sprawling global crisis.
The show’s unique approach to storytelling sets it apart from typical alien invasion narratives by focusing on the human side of the catastrophe. This emotional depth, paired with the sci-fi spectacle, is a winning combination in my eyes.
I usually check a show or movie’s Rotten Tomatoes score before diving in, but it doesn’t always put me off. With “Invasion,” the slower pacing mentioned in some reviews might not be for everyone, which could explain its mixed reception and relatively modest scores.
From what I’ve gathered though, the series seems to take its time building atmosphere and developing characters, something that some viewers find captivating, while others might see as a bit slow.
All in all, “Invasion” has definitely piqued my curiosity, and I’m excited to finally dive in and binge the series before season 3 premieres on August 22. If the trailer is anything to go by, this slow-burning, character-driven sci-fi thriller might just be my next obsession.
Stream the first episode of "Invasion" season 3 on Apple TV Plus starting August 22. New episodes arrive every Friday thereafter.
