'I’d like to be involved' - Notts County's Jim O'Brien targets Dagenham return

Jim O’Brien said it was good to be back from his long injury layoff  and has set his sights on  a place in Notts County’s squad to face Dagenham this weekend.

The Scotsman played 45 minutes of the Magpies’ 3-1 win over AFC Mansfield in the Senior Cup on Tuesday night, his first game since suffering an eight-inch gash in his leg against Chesterfield in December.

In front of manager Neal Ardley, O’Brien gave a timely reminder of his qualities with a fine midfield performance as two goals from Kieran Cummings and one from Tyreace Palmer sealed the win.

The former Bradford player is now keen to be involved when Notts will hope to strengthen their grip on a playoff place against the Daggers on Saturday.

“It was good to be back and get some minutes just to get those movements going again,” he said.

“I’d like to be involved at the weekend, but that is up to the manager to decide.

“We signed Callum Roberts on Monday and the squad is quite big at the moment.

“So it’s just a case of what we need and what the manager is looking for. We will wait and see.”
