‘I’d help myself to the police station’: Uber driver offers Texas passenger water. The she takes a closer look at the Great Value water bottle

Using Uber as a woman can already be nerve-wracking. Few of us would willingly climb into a stranger’s car under normal circumstances, but rideshare apps have convinced many that vetting systems and safety measures make it safe.

Still, there are plenty of cases shared online that suggest otherwise.

One woman shared how her driver locked her inside the car when police pulled him over. Another said her driver deliberately took her farther away from her destination until TikTok Live viewers intervened. A third even described her driver “trying to kiss her” after locking the doors.

Now, another TikToker is sparking concern with a video about a water bottle that didn’t look right.

Uber driver offers woman suspicious water

TikTok creator @beautybeyondbarrakaroro posted her clip, which she filmed while sitting in the backseat of an Uber in Texas.

“POV: my uber told me to help myself to some water & this is the water,” she wrote in text overlay.

The camera then zooms in on a Great Value bottle that appears anything but normal.

Though it looks sealed and full, a white substance floats at the top and doesn’t sink, even when she spins the bottle slowly. The water at the bottom also looks slightly discolored.

“Gmfuuuuu !!!!!” she added in her caption.

Uber tips on rider safety

Stories like these aren’t uncommon, and Uber appears to acknowledge this on its site.

The company says it takes rider safety seriously and recommends several steps to protect yourself while using the app.

According to the company, riders should always check the license plate, car make, and driver photo in the app before getting in. It also encourages sitting in the back seat when riding alone, wearing a seat belt, and sharing trip details with a trusted friend or family member.

Riders can tap the shield icon in the app to access its Safety Toolkit at any point during a ride.

If something feels wrong, Uber stresses you can end the ride at any time. And if a situation turns urgent, the app has an emergency button that connects riders directly to 911 and provides their location to dispatchers.

Beyond that, safety experts say you should never accept food or drinks from a driver, no matter how harmless it looks.

Speaking to Vice, one expert explained that “it’s simply not worth the risk” and recommended declining politely instead of ingesting anything offered.

Commenters want to know what’s in it

In the comments under her post, viewers urged the TikToker to take action.

“I’ll probably take it to get tested, smh,” one person wrote.

Another added, “Get it tested and report him to Uber.

Others took a more urgent approach. “I’d help myself to the police station,” one user said.

Some thought the answer was simpler—and grosser. “Girl another rider opened that and spit in it,” one commenter suggested.
