'I'd be silly not to' - Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler targets new managerial role

Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler has admitted he is ready for his next managerial challenge.

The ex-Red was most recently manager of East Bengal but left the position by mutual consent earlier this month .

The 46-year-old had previously been with Brisbane Roar, where he left the A-League side in fourth place, but left following the suspension of the season due to covid-19 and being unwilling to be away from his family.

Fowler guided East Bengal to 9th place out of 11 teams, in the Kolkata-based side’s first season in the Indian Super League and the Liverpool legend says he is ready for a return to management.

“If something crops up, yeah, I’d love to. If something pops up overseas again, I’d be silly not to go and give that a whirl,” he told Sky Sports .

“I’ve proven that I can travel. People have this perception of me that I’m an inexperienced manager.

“I’ve managed in three countries now - in Thailand, Australia, and India - and I’ve done well in all of them.

“I’d be confident of doing a job anywhere and I’ll be looking pretty soon.”

Having scored 183 goals for the Reds during his playing days, Fowler began his managerial career with Thai side Muangthong United, where he was appointed a player-coach in 2011.
