Jayson Molumby insists he can play a leading role in West Brom’ promotion push.
The Republic of Ireland midfielder joined the Baggies on Friday on a season long loan from Brighton.
Waterford man Molumby spent the first half of this year on loan at Preston North End and enjoyed a successful stint at Millwall before that.
But out of the picture with Brighton, he needs to hit the ground running with the Baggies if he is to establish himself in their side.
The 22-year-old arrived in Faro today as Ireland stepped up their preparations for Wednesday’s World Cup qualifier with Portugal.
And Molumby said: “It was known I was looking for a new home and I was keeping my cards close to my chest as I was just waiting for the right move.
“As soon as West Brom were in touch, I was delighted and really eager to jump in on that one.
“If I'm going to a big club like West Brom, it's going to be tough (to nail down a regular starting role), but it's one of those where I feel I couldn't turn down the opportunity.
“You’re going to need everyone to be successful in a squad to try and get back to the Premier League - I’m hoping I can add to that.
“I wanted to make the right decision and that's why it took so long for me to end up going out on loan.
“Ideally, I’d have liked to be straight in doing pre-season with a club, but it's not how it turned out.
“Everyone's situation is different, but I'm really pleased to be at a club like West Brom now.”
