‘I could blow my nose on it’ Scots woman in stitches after living room rug arrives and it's the size of a doormat

A young Scots woman has been left in hysterics when a lounge rug she ordered online arrived no bigger than a doormat.

Kayleigh O'Hara couldn't believe it when she opened her parcel only to discover the hand held item was supposed to be the large floor rug she had ordered for her living room.

The 27-year-old, from Glasgow, had waited more than two weeks for the delivery from Groupon and cried with laughter when it arrived - and fitted through her letter box.

The supermarket retail worker, who paid £14.99 for the soft grey rug, plus delivery, said: "I was really excited for it to come, I just hoped it was good quality.

“I knew the price was a bargain but I never thought there would be a problem with the size."

Kayleigh was confused when she saw the small package which had been pushed through her letterbox and couldn't think what she had ordered.

She added: "I had treated myself to a few new bits for the lounge and the day the parcels arrived I picked up a small, plastic package and wasn't sure what it was.

"It was folded up so small, it's smaller than a doormat. When I opened it I couldn't believe my eyes.

"When I saw the grey coloured fur, the penny dropped that this tiny parcel was the rug I had been waiting for.

"It was a laugh or cry moment - and I have laughed a lot. Thankfully the throws I ordered are really nice."

Not the large floor covering she was expecting, Kayleigh is unsure what to do with her purchase.

She said: "I keep picking it up and trying to see where I can put it that doesn't look ridiculous and out of place.

“I've placed it over my footstool for now, as it is really soft and good quality - just a shame it's so tiny."

"I sent a picture to my friend and at first she couldn't see it. Then she said, it was so small I could blow my nose on it."

Kayleigh admits she didn't read the description and measurements before she placed her order and although she accepts the mistake is her fault, she claims the photos advertised on Groupon are very misleading.

She said: "In the photo, the rug advertised is clearly the length of the sofa.

“Once it arrived I went back on the website to see what was going on and the box that is automatically ticked for £14.99 is for a so called rug that measures only 40x60cm.

"I haven't asked for a refund because I do accept it's my fault.

“It's certainly an online disaster, but I have learnt my lesson and I'm going to check measurements online much more closely in the future."

Groupon have been contacted for comment.
