'I caught my vile mum-in-law slandering me on my Ring doorbell - but she denies it'

It can be difficult when you marry into a new family, particularly when you have a fraught relationship with your in-laws. As you slowly learn the quirks of how each family operates, tensions may arise and it might take years to fully adjust. One woman who has never really got on with her mother-in-law was still shocked and upset to discover that she had been slandering her behind her back. She captured the 'vile' exchange on her Ring video doorbell and couldn't let it go.

The woman has known for a while that her mother-in-law is not a fan of hers but was still surprised to hear her being the butt of the jokes and felt it was awful behaviour.

Taking to Reddit, the woman explained that after the incident she has opted to stay away from her mother-in-law until she admits what she said instead of denying it.

In the post, the woman, who remained anonymous, explained: "I know my mother-in-law doesn't like me but watching it play out on my ring camera was so hurtful.

"She and my husband's aunt were making jokes at my expense, belittling me, and of course, all-around vile."

The woman went onto explain that she confronted her husband about it and when he texted his mum about the incident, she got very defensive and even angry at the accusations.

However, then when the husband next saw his mum her tone had completely changed which shocked the author of the post even more.

She said: "But when she saw him, she was acting so sweet. The sweetest she had ever been.

"I don't talk to her, I stay away from her."

In response, many have supported the woman and said that her mother-in-law should not be welcome at their house while she still has this attitude.

One person wrote: "Download the video so that when she tries to involve others, you can simply respond with sending them that."

While another stated: "Sounds like the two of them can stay the hell away from you. Next time she does it, announce over the speaker that you've recorded her bad behaviour."
