'I can think of better' Leeds United fans unimpressed by latest transfer link as striker hunt continues

Leeds United fans are not convinced by the latest reports linking the club with a move for Middlesbrough striker Britt Assombalonga.

With ten days of the January transfer window remaining, the Whites are yet to source a replacement for Eddie Nketiah who was recalled by Arsenal at the start of the January transfer window.

Che Adams remains the club's number one target, however, negotiations with Southampton are a standstill with Ralph Hassnehuttl reluctant to part with their £15million summer acquisition.

As a result, Leeds have pressed on with other targets to ensure they bring in suitable cover for Patrick Bamford amidst a run of one win in seven Championship games.

Their striker search has led them to Middlesbrough striker Assombalonga, according to  The Mirror .

The 27-year-old has 18 months left on his contract, which runs until 2021, having joined the club for £15million from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2017.

Assombalonga has scored six league goals for Middlesbrough, however, he has once again struggled with injuries and hasn't played for Jonathan Woodgate's side since December, as a result.

Whilst his goal-scoring pedigree at Championship level when fit is undoubted, Leeds fans have been left concerned by his potential price tag, on top of his injury record.

Whether Middlesbrough would be likely to sell one of their main assets mid-season also remains to be seen.

The club have already parted with goalkeeper Darren Randoph, who rejoined West Ham, whilst speculation continues to link Dael Fry with a move to Burnley.

As a result, Woodgate would likely be reluctant to losing one of his main goal threats with only 10 days of the January transfer window remaining.
