Australian paceman Mitchell Starc has signalled his desire to get another crack at England's batsmen on a faster wicket than the first Ashes Test deck at the Gabba.
England has taken a cautious approach to the game, scoring 4-196 on day one at less than two and a half runs an over, before lifting the tempo slightly on day two to be all out for 302 at lunch, at a run-rate of 2.59 an over.
Australia finished day two on 4-165, with Steve Smith on 64 not out and Shaun Marsh on 44 not out.
"I can't wait to bowl on a fast wicket against these [England] guys if that's the way they're going to play on a slow wicket," Starc told Grandstand after day two.
"It's going to be great for us to take them on on a fast wicket and see how they react."
The Australians tried some short-pitched bowling on day two and a number of England batsmen fell trying the pull shot.
"We had to find a way. It's probably not a [Gabba] wicket that we're used to," Starc said.
"It started off on day one a lot slower than it normally does, and hasn't got all that much quicker over the course of today, so I guess a bit more sunshine and it might get a bit quicker.
"[We had to] change a few game plans there and one was a bit of short-pitched bowling.
"We got a couple of wickets that way, and I think Gazza [Nathan Lyon] bowled fantastically well again, to finally get a few rewards there late."
