'I can't be happy if Roofe leaves' - Marcelo Bielsa's honest appraisal of Leeds United transfer

Marcelo Bielsa accepts he cannot be happy if Leeds United sell Kemar Roofe to Anderlecht next week and must adapt to his absence.

The club’s top scorer in each of the past two campaigns is expected to complete a £7m transfer to the Belgian side in the next 48 hours.

The Whites are understood to already be in talks with his replacement’s club and trying to complete a deal before Thursday’s transfer window deadline.

However, in the meantime, Bielsa must help his squad to adapt to the likely exit of Roofe.

“I can’t be happy if Roofe leaves,” he said. “If I tell you this when this striker made 15 goals last season, I would be stupid if I accept this situation.

“We have to adapt if it finally happens.”

Pushed for an update on where the transfer is at, Bielsa said: “At the moment, [there is] no [update], but finally, he will not continue with us.”
