As I sit in my office now I can hear laughter, the whirring of a photocopier and all the sounds that we have missed so much.
I have been so nervous about how we were going to get children back to school safely, but our community - parents and staff - have pulled together and I couldn't be prouder.
It has had its challenges, but staff volunteered to come in over half term to make sure their classrooms were up to social distancing rules.
Parents, who are understandably nervous, felt massively reassured that we could send them pictures of how the school had changed.
It allowed them to speak to their children about it at home before sending them back.
This morning, children, excited to see their friends, have been taught about social distancing and how to give a virtual hug or socially distanced hive-five to show their support to one another.
At the school gates, while some still had concerns, most parents were grateful that we were back.
That doesn't mean that there won't be problems if we try to bring other year groups back too quickly.
Just 25 per cent of our children have returned.
And if we saw a big uptick in the number of parents sending their children back to us we would struggle to keep within the safety guidelines.
If the decision was made to send all children back before the summer that isn't something we would be able to do, not without having a rota for which years could attend and when.
But today has been a success, and while you can't please everyone all of the time, I couldn't be more delighted with how we've come together to make this possible.
